Choosing a Realtor
When it comes to selling or buying a home, a good real estate agent can be vital in ensuring you receive the best rate for your home. Most importantly, real estate agents use their expertise and knowledge about the real estate market to ensure that the buying or selling process goes smoothly.
There are many individuals who have a real estate license but not all these people have the same real estate experience and it is important to consider this when choosing an agent. Although it may often be tempting to hire a family member or friend, it is definitely worthwhile to consider all your options, especially if this close friend or family member may not have the experience required.
When choosing a real estate agent it is important to ask a little bit about their background. Ask the agent about their past experiences selling homes and if they have any past client references that they would be willing to share; most importantly though, it is important that you feel comfortable with the agent that you are choosing.
Furthermore, many clients will look for agents that are less expensive, or will agree to charge fewer fees. Although this might seem appealing during a time period when you may need to be mindful of what you are spending the most, it is important to understand that cheaper will not always get you an agent with experience and the dedicated work ethic required. Often times paying a higher fee, and having an agent who knows the ins and outs of the real estate market will result in you potentially profiting or saving more in the long run.
When choosing an agent ask them how they plan to market your house. It is a beneficial idea to get a sense of what the agents marketing plan is. Will they be showcasing your house through flyers and brochures? Do they provide staging services? Will they hire a photographer to come in and take professional pictures of your home? A good agent will understand the benefit of taking professional pictures of your home, ones that show your property in the best possible light to attract buyers to come and visit the property.
